Indecent Blogging: Get Some

And THEN, she got out and.... Feb 9th, 2004 12:43:26 am EST
Every single post I make is going to have a subject that makes you THINK you're going to read about something you can jerk to. Suckah!

I had a conversation a week back with a potential customer who paid over 300 dollars a month for his 5 phone lines. Here's how it went (to the best of my accurate recollection):

Customer: Hello?
Me: Yes Mr. Smith, it's XXXXXXXXXX calling from MCI, how are you?
Customer: NOT INTERESTED (goes to hang up the phone)
Me: No no no, wait a minute Mr. Smith, DON'T hang up! Let me explain why I'm calling. You're still paying more than 40 bucks a month for your phone, right?
Customer: Try $300
Me: OUCH. That's pretty pricy! That's just for your one phone line?
Customer: Actually, that's for 3 lines. I have a small business.
Me: Well, instead of paying 300 dollars a month, what if I were to tell you that you could pay between 50 and 60 dollars a month, AND have unlimited coverage in the entire US for all 3 of your lines?
Customer: No, I'm satisfied with my current carrier.
Me: If you could pay over 240 dollars less a month on your phones there, you're telling me you wouldn't?
Customer: ...
Me: See, quite a few of your calls are probobly either local toll, or long distance, right?
Customer: Well, yeah..
Me: So don't screw yourself over - pay the BEST rate fo r what you're using. 25 bucks a month covers all 3 of your lines, for unlimited long distance and local toll calling, anywhere in the US.
Customer: What about my local service with my local company?
Me: The bill for that goes down to about 8-10 bucks - just the basic "keep-your-phone-on-the-wall" fee.

Anyway, the customer eventually agreed to it. Now he's saving over 200 bucks a month, and he can go NUTS with his call habits.

But, many people just don't understand, or are too ignorant to care. If you're not rich, then what business do you have paying more than you need to?

If you're American, and reading this, I will call you.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but rest assured - I WILL CALL YOU. I call 500-700 Americans in my workday, 6 days a week. And if you hang up on me, I'll call you back in the morning, and wake you up. If you hang up on me in the morning, I'll call you when you're eating dinner. I'll either be your best friend or your most annoying enemy.

My point is: WHY pay more? Pay LESS, and get MORE. Stop being an asshole.

SHAMELESS PLUG OF THE DAY: If you ARE paying more, and want to keep some of your hard-earned cash in your wallet each month, 25 bucks a month REPLACES what you're paying for your access fees, maintenence fees, and LD and Local Toll charges. Email me at [email protected], and we'll schedule a time for me to call you and set this up. UNLIMITED CALLING IN THE US, 24.99 a month.

I DARE YOU to tell me you can do better, because fuck you; you can't.

YOU ALSO GET:

- 5 bucks off for the first three months.
- In the email, mention this post, and I'll also hook you up with a 10 dollar rebate towards your next phone bill.

Either drop me a line, or suffer with your more expensive bill, asshole.

Haha.

Chances are, you were misled by the subject of this blog.

Much to your dismay, I'm sure, this blog isn't about sex. It has nothing to do with sex at all. Disappointed? World's smallest violin plays for you, I promise.

I'm going against the grain; no sex, no steamy windshields, no lusty bedroom stories. None of that. Instead, this is the story of me, an outbound sales agent, working for one of the largest, most monolithic telephone companies in the US.

Are you unhappy, now that you won't be touching yourself whilst reading about some rendezvous in the backseat?
Oh boo hoo.

Instead, you will read about the Bigger Picture. Every day, I talk to hundreds of Americans, explaining the reason why their phone bills are more expensive than they should be. And I tell you, many of those people are fucking idiots, thinking that they're not paying for their long distance access, even though they can make long distance calls.

FACT: If you can dial a long distance number, you're paying somewhere between 13-15 dollars out of your bill, just for the option of making those calls, whether you actually are or not.

And if you're making long distance calls, you're either paying per-minute rates, or you have some sort of unlimited package that lets you call anywhere in the US for a flat rate - usually costing between 40 and 60 dollars a month.

Everytime I talk to one of these people, and try to a) explain , and b) convince them to go with us for a much, much, much better deal, and they DON'T, I laugh, pity, and reassure them that I'll be calling back.

Little do they know, but I re-schedule their number to be called back at 8:00am, the very next day. (9:00am in applicable states).

Some people are just stupid. Why pay more than you have to? And if you're not making LD calls, why pay more for something you're not using, when you could pay less?

Retards.
